e-ILS was launched in 2019 and uses the same core curriculum as ILS, which was launched in 2002 and is Resuscitation Council UK’s most attended course.
ILS certification is recognised in the UK, EU and Australia.
During the course, you will develop the skills to:
- identify the causes and promote the prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest;
- recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach;
- undertake the skills of quality CPR and defibrillation (manual and /or AED) and simple airway manoeuvres;
- utilise non-technical skills to facilitate team leadership and effective team membership.
Who is the course for?
The e-ILS course is suitable for doctors, medical students, nurses, nursing students, midwives, paramedics and student paramedics, physiotherapists, dentistry professionals and other health and care professionals. It may also be suitable for fire service technicians, police personnel and prison officers.
The e-ILS course combines half a day of e-learning with half a day of face-to-face learning in one of our many Course Centres.
We use our evidence-based guidelines and cutting-edge research to create our courses. Courses are then delivered by members of our dedicated and highly skilled Instructor base. This guarantees that our courses are uniform, and the content remains the same across all our Course Centres.
Pre-course preparation:
Before the course, you will be registered on our Learning Management System (LMS). Here, you can access pre-course course modules that will prepare you for your face-to-face session, and you may be asked to complete a pre-course multiple choice question (MCQ) paper.
You will receive your course manual at least two weeks before the course. Candidates are expected to read the manual in preparation for the course.
Programme:
Candidates are free to complete the e-learning in their own time before the face-to-face session. The face-to-face session focusses on skill stations and cardiac arrest simulations (CASTeach).
Assessment and certification:
Assessment is continuous throughout the course and is guided by the assessment forms provided for each core skill. Copies of the assessment forms should be forwarded to the Candidate with their manual.
Successful Candidates receive a Resuscitation Council UK ILS provider certificate, which is valid for one year.
