Instructor resources on the LMS
Course materials are updated in response to changes in practice, NICE guidelines and research.
RCUK recommends that Instructors access the course materials (for RCUK advanced or immediate life support courses) on the Learning Management System LMS prior to teaching on a course.
Your Instructor status
Your LMS profile records the information regarding your Instructor status including:
- Your teaching history: all courses you attended and the capacity in which you attended (e.g. instructor, instructor candidate, or course director).
- Your certificate: you can download your current Instructor certificate(s) including the date of expiry.
IPs and ICs
IPs are encouraged to attend a Generic Instructor Course (GIC) or Immediate Life Support Instructor Course (ILSi) as soon as possible so that you can make the most of your recent experience of the course.
Instructor candidates (ICs) for provider courses
Please view the relevant course pages for a list of upcoming courses that require faculty. There are limited IC places on provider courses as it is important to ensure you receive appropriate mentorship.
Be sure to identify yourself as an IC when requesting a place on a course as a faculty. When preparing for the course, please familiarise yourself with the course materials and take your GIC logbook with you.
Become a GIC Instructor (GICIC)
Active provider course instructors can opt-in to teach on our Instructor courses (GIC) provided you have taught on:
• four provider courses excluding ICs
• eight provider courses of NLS course type excluding ICs.
If you meet the conditions, please get in touch. To ensure we process your request as quickly as possible, we will require your name, professional registration number and the email address you used to access the GIC VLE.
Finding centres that require faculty
You can search for upcoming courses by heading to our course pages for a list of upcoming courses that require faculty. Alternatively, you may wish to contact your local Course Centre directly with your enquiry, as not all our courses are advertised.
All course arrangements, including programmes, start and finish times, travel directions, accommodation and faculty meals (if appropriate) will be managed by the Centre.
