On 11 September 2019, Public Health England published their 2019 Health Profile for England.
Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) welcomes the publication of this data and is particularly pleased to see both the actual and predicted downward trend from 2001-2024 in heart disease for both males and females.
Despite the downward trend, survival rates for out of hospital cardiac arrest have remained static over recent years. There remains considerable work to be done to match survival rates seen in other nations.
RCUK’s key goal is to improve mortality rates with high quality resuscitation practices, and by increasing the likelihood of surviving out of hospital cardiac arrest with quick bystander intervention and successful post-resuscitation care.
We will continue to analyse this report in order to ensure that our work serves the public, as well as healthcare professionals, in the best possible way.
