With support from Resuscitation Council UK’s Community Grant Scheme, Thanet Community Development Trust has been equipping local leaders with essential CPR and AED skills.
Their initiative focuses on training individuals who are actively involved in community life—such as councillors, school staff, religious leaders, and those running local support groups. By educating these key figures, the project ensures lifesaving knowledge reaches as many people as possible, increasing the chances of early intervention in a cardiac arrest emergency.
One positive story has already emerged - an attendee put their CPR skills into action while travelling on a bus in Thanet, providing vital CPR assistance until paramedics arrived. Thanks to this programme, more people in the community now have the confidence and skills to respond if they see someone have a cardiac arrest - the ultimate medical emergency.
